23-Year-Old Motorcyclist Pronounced Dead after DUI Accident near Val Vista Drive

GILBERT, AZ (May 19, 2023) – Monday afternoon, Christopher Bartlett was killed in a motorcycle collision on Williams Field Road.

Authorities responded to the scene around 1:30 p.m., near Val Vista Drive on May 15th.

Per reports, 49-year-old Lucinda Begay attempted to make a left turn and collided with Bartless who was riding a motorcycle.

Paramedics arrived and transported 23-year-old Bartlett to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Following preliminary duties, officers determined that Begay was under the influence. As a result, police arrested her at the scene.

Deputies blocked Williams Field Road for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened around 6:30 p.m. At this time, the crash is still under investigation and any witnesses are encouraged to contact authorities.
