Our weekly list of special event films to see:

Friday, Dec. 14

What would make 1946 classic It's a Wonderful Life even more wonderful? Seeing it on ice! Put those ice-skating moves to work while the Echo Park Film Center Filmmobile plays the movie (Christmas cake is promised). Keep an eye on its Twitter account, @EPFCFilmmobile, for the location announcement the day before the show.

Sundance Film Festival selection Excision promises to turn heads and stomachs. If true to its word, the film, which focuses on one disturbed teen (played by AnnaLynne McCord) who becomes obsessed with surgery and the human flesh, may be the best thing (or worst, depending on your taste) since The Human Centipede. Director and writer Richard Bates Jr. will be present for a Q&A after the screening at UCLA's Ray Stark Family Theatre.

Saturday, Dec. 15

Leave it to Tim Burton to whisk together charm and creepiness to produce the holiday staple The Nightmare Before Christmas. Don't forget to bring gifts for the Toys for Tots dropoff bin in the lobby of the Aero Theatre before the screening tonight.

Sunday, Dec. 16

The Egyptian Theatre is hosting this year's L.A. EigaFest (eiga means film in Japanese). Its last-day festivities include the presentation of Top Chefs: The Wide World of Japanese Food Anime and the action-packed period piece Floating Castle. Plus, of course, a ramen booth.

Monday, Dec. 17

So many festive movies, so little time. Enjoy eight holiday romance stories in one with the British film Love, Actually tonight at ArcLight Sherman Oaks.

Tuesday, Dec. 18

Bloody Christmas movies more your taste? The Grindhouse Film Festival's annual holiday show takes place tonight at the New Beverly Cinema with a double feature: a rare, 35mm print screening of the 1984 classic Silent Night, Deadly Night and a presentation of the 1974 horror mystery Black Christmas.
