19-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Big-Rig Collision near Carroll Canyon Road

SAN DIEGO, CA (April 21, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, 19-year-old Christian Soriano was fatally struck by a semi-truck on Interstate 15.

The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m., on the northbound lanes of the highway near Carroll Canyon Road.

According to reports, Soriano was walking along the shoulder of the freeway when a passing white Freightliner big-rig hit him. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced Soriano dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the big-rig remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Officers blocked the right lane of northbound I-15 for about two and a half hours while crews cleared the scene. Additionally, a toxicology was conducted to validate if drugs or alcohol played a factor.

At this time, an active investigation into the deadly semi-truck crash remains underway.
