19-Year-Old Fatally Struck in Big-Rig Crash near Covina Boulevard

SAN DIMAS, CA (March 11, 2021) – Late Tuesday morning, authorities identified 19-year-old Christian Lopez as the fatal victim of a crash on 57 Freeway.

The Los Angeles County Police officers responded to the scene around 11:20 a.m., on March 9. Emergency crews arrived shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls.

According to reports, a 1995 Honda Civic was traveling at a high rate of speed when the car crashed into the trailer portion of a 2016 Freightliner big-rig that was parked on the right shoulder.

Due to the impact of the collision, Lopez suffered life-threatening injuries before he died. In addition, the driver of the semi-truck remained uninjured.

The surrounding area on 57 Freeway was closed during cleanup and preliminary duties. However, the roadway has since reopened.

At this time, authorities have not provided further details. Once available, more information will be released.
