24-Year-Old Driver Dies in Wrong-Way Accident near San Gabriel Avenue

ACTON, CA (April 5, 2022) – Wednesday morning, a head-on crash on Sierra Highway left Christian Flores dead, police said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 4:50 a.m. on Sierra Highway south of San Gabriel Avenue.

For reasons unknown, Flores was driving a Honda north in the southbound lanes of the highway. As a result, he collided head-on with an oncoming Nissan.

The driver of the Nissan was later identified as 38-year-old Vicente Gonzalez of Palmdale. He received significant injuries and required hospitalization.

In addition, first responders declared 24-year-old Flores dead at the scene, due to the extent of his condition.

At this time, authorities are asking anyone with information about the head-on crash to contact the CHP Antelope Valley area office at 661-948-8541.
