Update: The CHP has arrested two suspects involved in the fight — L.A. residents David Mendez, 21, and Edras Ramirez, 27 — on suspicion of “assault with a deadly weapon.” The D.A. has not yet filed charges. And according to Fox11, investigators are still trying to decide if charges are warranted against 50-year-old Jerry Patterson, the “victim.”

At a press conference this morning Sgt. Denise Joslin said the California Highway Patrol was actively seeking information about an incident of road rage caught on video by a passing motorist on Interstate 5 near downtown L.A.

“We are seeking the public's assistance in not only identifying and speaking with the individuals involved in the incident,” Joslin told reporters, “but we would also like to speak to any witnesses who may have seen this incident, videotaped this incident, and/or have any information.”

Joslin also addressed questions about the video's authenticity:

“We do believe at this time that this incident actually did occur. Again, we take into consideration that there is a possibility this could be a hoax,” she said.

The video taken last Tuesday afternoon was posted, LiveLeak.com, posted by a user located in Ireland.

The incident took place on the northbound side of Interstate 5 approaching 7th Street before the East L.A. Interchange on Tuesday, June 12, around 3:30 p.m. Any witnesses who may have tips for the CHP are asked to call: (213) 744-2331
