As most of us know, Los Angeles uses a grading system when it comes to rating restaurants after a safety inspection. A, B, C, etc. But according to China Daily, China is considering doing something a little more cutting edge: posting cartoon happy faces, straight faces and sad faces.

The proposal by the State Food and Drug Administration comes after a number of food contamination scares in China with items like vinegar, pork and milk.

Restaurants would be smiled or frowned at based on environment, facilities and disinfection. Evaluations could take place annually or from “time to time.” So if the plan goes into place, forget happy meals, it's all about happy faces.
