Back in January, we introduced you to Chicago artist Nick Cave (nope, not him) and his whimsical soundsuit exhibit at UCLA's Fowler Museum. On Saturday night, KCRW and UCLA present Soundsuits After Dark, an all-ages party featuring DJ's Jason Bentley and Garth Trinidad who will provide jams to get Cave's 10-foot-tall, mixed media soundsuits moving. When worn, the suits make sound mimicking the rush of a river or the friction of a hundred balloons. It is the sound of motion, and Cave's suits channel it all. The Fowler Museum will also offer opportunities for party-goers to bling out their own clothes with sequins, buttons and other everyday items. The Nick Cave: Meet Me at the Center of the Earth exhibit ends on May 30, so this after-hours party is a last chance to experience the soundsuits in their natural habitat: motion.
