82-Year-Old Golfer Dies after Colliding with SUV near Cherry Hills Drive

SUN CITY, AZ (August 1, 2023) – Saturday morning, police responded to a crash that claimed the life of Chester Sharpe. On July 29th, at around 10:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a collision near 103rd Avenue and Cherry Hills Drive. According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, a golf cart driven by 82-year-old Sharpe and an SUV were involved in the crash. Furthermore, the investigation showed that Sharpe was headed southbound on 103rd Avenue when he suddenly turned left and crossed the center line. As a result, Sharpe collided head-on with an SUV. Following the crash, officials pronounced 82-year-old Chester Sharpe dead at the scene, due to the extent of his injuries. Later, officials reported that they suspected Sharpe to have suffered a medical emergency during the incident. Meanwhile, authorities assessed the driver of the SUV. They found that he was not driving under the influence or impaired in any way.
