A Teen Vogue fashion event featuring X Factor singer Cher Lloyd brought screaming teen girls to The Grove shopping center in 93-degree heat, prompting five young people to fall ill and require medical treatment.
The incident was reported about 1:39 p.m. as a “large crowd” gathered to check out the event at 189 The Grove Drive, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey. Lloyd's free show started at 1:30, Teen Vogue stated.
According to the LAFD …
… at least five “youths” reported feeling ill amid the hot and crowded conditions and requested help: They were eventually checked out and released, some to their parents.
Humphrey said those seeking help included three girls and two women who likely suffered mild, heat-related illness.
Shortly after 3 p.m. the LAFD reported that the crowds had diminished and that no one had to be hospitalized.
The fashion show was billed as a “Back To School Saturday” promotion:

It's not the first time Lloyd has had her young fans in a tizzy. Authorities reportedly shut down a Lloyd event in West Hollywood earlier this month as a result of overcrowding.
Today people were tweeting about the crowds:
