When portraying strong, powerful female characters on screen, Chelsea Muirhead knows how to do it right. The Canadian actress has been making waves in the entertainment industry, with several notable projects such as Slo Pitch and Adult Adoption under her belt. Muirhead attended Ryerson Theatre School in Toronto and has since become a part of several successful productions. Her latest role is in the highly anticipated HBO Max series Warrior, set to release in March 2023.

Warrior is an action-packed martial arts drama created by the iconic Bruce Lee that follows the struggles of Chinese immigrants in San Francisco’s Chinatown during the late 1800s. The series is known for its complex characters, thrilling fight sequences, and exploration of identity and social justice themes. In its highly-anticipated third season, viewers will be introduced to Yan Mi, a fierce and determined female protagonist Muirhead plays. As Yan Mi, Muirhead embodies the strength and hope of a community fighting for survival in a hostile world.

Muirhead is excited about her role as the lead character in her new project and is eager to share her enthusiasm with the world. “I’m thrilled to be a part of this show,” she says. “It’s an incredible story and experience, and it’s a show I think people need to see for many reasons.” Muirhead recognizes that the show is more than just an action-packed drama. “Beyond the stunning cinematography, we are simply trying to highlight what it is to be human, what it takes to fight for what you believe in, especially in a world that feels like it’s against you,” she says.

Muirhead’s role in Warrior will surely be a milestone in her career. “This is the biggest career opportunity thus far,” she says.” I’m blessed with the gift of playing within the walls of Chinatown.” Muirhead recognizes that the show’s popularity is mainly due to its dedicated fanbase. “After more than two years off the air, the fans have brought this incredible show back to its feet,” she says. Muirhead is honored to be a part of the series and hopes to bring it to new audiences who may not have discovered it otherwise.

As Muirhead prepares for the release of Warrior, she looks forward to the many milestones. The show is currently in its final stages of production, and Muirhead expects HBO to start doing press around January or February. She hopes to coincide with the timing of the launch to hit the circuit at both ends. Muirhead recognizes that her involvement in the show is a marketable quality, but she believes that its message is the most marketable aspect of the show. “I think people are hungry for a show that speaks to today’s struggles,” she says.
