Although the official opening date isn't until this Saturday, the new Chego digs inside Chinatown's Far East Plaza has been working out their Ooey Gooey Fries, rice bowls and half-pound Chego Burger for a few days. Papi Chulo himself tweeted out a photo of the full Chego spread a few days ago, which can only mean one thing: It's time to eat.

At a friends and family event last night [editor's note: this intrepid and sometimes very hungry reporter is neither], a DJ on the second level of the open courtyard pushed out dance-heavy pop mashups while a line out the door and down the hall waited patiently for their grub. The angular space inside is actually pretty small, with a few metal tables running along one window and a tight amount of standing room. Instead of the long communal tables from the old spot on Overland, picnic tables out in front offer plenty of seating. Or, if you're desperate, you can pump some quarters into the little kid rides across the hallway and eat while you rock back and forth.

If you're absolutely certain that you couldn't possibly wait another day for Chego's gut-busting bowls to hit your belly, you can try your hand this afternoon at an @EatChego twitter contest. At 1 p.m., they'll be releasing a three question quiz (hint, hint: read up on the menu), and the first 25 people to answer correctly will get access to a sneak peek dinner tonight at 9:30 p.m. For the rest of us, Saturday morning at 11 a.m. can't come soon enough.

Chego: Chinatown, 727 N. Broadway, Unit 117, Los Angeles.
