On Thursday, Aug. 8, Superba Snack Bar will celebrate its one-year anniversary with a special dinner. But this isn't your average multicourse, self-congratulatory special event, because Superba chef Jason Neroni has some really great friends helping him out.

Cooking the five-course dinner alongside Neroni will be Manhattan Beach Post and Fishing With Dynamite's David LeFevre; Animal and Son of a Gun's Vinny Dotolo; Night + Market's Kris Yenbamroong; and Craig Thorton, who runs the supper club Wolvesmouth (Thornton was last year the subject of a somewhat epic New Yorker profile). Red Medicine's Noah Ellis will be making drinks for the dinner. All profits will be donated to the Westside Food Bank.

That's quite the lineup. The dinner might be your only chance to sample Thornton's cooking, seeing as Wolvesmouth is practically impossible to get into.

All the chefs involved bring something distinct and exciting to the table. But apart from that, it's just really nice to see L.A. chefs coming together in this way to support one another. While chefs might get together as part of a festival, it's less common to see them do something like this simply to support and celebrate one of their peers.

Neroni says that in the two and a half years since he's been back in L.A., he has gotten to know all these chefs from eating in their restaurants and them coming to Superba.

“When the anniversary came around, I didn't want to just throw a forgettable party,” Neroni says. “I wanted to share it with these guys I admire and respect and share that with L.A. I am super excited to be cooking back home at a great time, with some really talented chefs making this city a true gastronomic hub. So when I asked these guys to do this anniversary dinner, they all didn't even hesitate. It took a little bit of scheduling but we all made it happen. It's going to be a ton of fun.”

The dinner costs $75 per person, with the option of adding wine pairings for $35 more. Reservations are required.
