With a state law that bans the sale of foie gras coming down the pipeline like so much corn meal down a duck's throat, trust a Frenchman to lead the chefs' rebellion against the impending foie gras ban.

Chef Ludo Lefebvre has teamed with Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo to host a foie gras feast at Animal. The two-night event happens October 14th and 15th, and it's not cheap: $175/person. They start taking reservations (via phone ONLY) tomorrow at 2 p.m.: (323) 782-9225.

Get it before it's gone. SB 1520, which bans the force-feeding of ducks or geese to make foie gras (a practice known as gavage) and forbids selling foie gras produced that way, was signed into law in 2004 and will take effect in July 2012.
