It’s PRIDE month, and Perrier® has teamed up with LA Weekly to highlight some of Los Angeles’ most iconic LGBTQIA+ bartenders who craft the perfect cocktails and mocktails that #CheersTo love! Check out their recipes below to get the party started:

It’s PRIDE month and I’m delighted to team up with Perrier® to #SparkOriginality and craft an original cocktail to #CheersTo FINALLY being able to be out and proud in public with my friends and family…chosen or otherwise {21+}⁣⁣

When I think of modern pride celebrations, I initially think of glitter, laughter, love and color. Essentially effervescence…and when it comes to bubbles there is no competing with OG QUEEN of sparkles itself… Perrier®! Their selection of naturally flavored sparkling mineral waters are so delicious I wanted to let them do most of the heavy lifting. Also, if alcohol isn’t a part of your lifestyle, this is JUST as delicious without the tequila.⁣⁣

Pride Bubbles

1 oz Blanco Tequila

3 Blackberries

.75 oz Lime Juice

.5 oz Simple Syrup

Perrier® Peach

Additional Blackberries & Rose Petals (for garnish)⁣⁣

Combine blackberries, tequila, lime juice and simple syrup in a shaker. Muddle the blackberries into the liquid. Add ice and shake vigorously for 30 seconds and double strain into a highball glass over ice. Complete with Perrier® Peach and garnish with fresh blackberries and rose petals.⁣⁣

I went with the Perrier® Peach because it’s delicious, but also a STONE fruit. LGBT Pride Month occurs in the US to commemorate the STONEWALL riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. As a result, pride events are held during this month to appreciate and acknowledge the impact LGBTQIA+ people have had in the world. ⁣⁣

The refreshing peach is the star of this sip, but perfectly pairs with the blackberry and gently touch of fresh citrus. Add a fun, flamboyantly fragrant rose petal headpiece, and this cocktail is ready to be enjoyed all month long (any beyond)!⁣⁣

A.J. Goodrich aka Missy Wiggy

Miss Wiggy

Miss Wiggy is a timeless inter-dimensional drag creature and mixologist who borders on pulchritudinous and apocryphal — in the absolute best and most glam way possible. According to her, she crawled out of the primordial soup fully formed in Pleasure pumps and a thirsty Santee Alley weave. She claims to have invented distillation, and in a past life could be found throwing Molotov cocktails outside speakeasies in the 1920s. You may know her from the heyday of Bar Mattachine in DLTA (R.I.P.), or you may not know her at all — which, honestly, is your loss. She’s currently working on a queer cocktail book, and world domination. Much love to the entire LGBTQIA+ community. Can’t wait to cheers you all again in person!

Our ragtag rumble tumble queen @the_one_and_only_miss_wiggy couldn’t be more athrill than to present “Under the Cherry Moon” (recipe below) — inspired by the many sad, lonely months spent in isolation as an out-of-work service industry ex-employee during the pandemic, scraping by, catching up on beloved camp classics and box office bombs of yesteryore, such as Prince’s ‘86 nadir of the same name. Above all, can’t wait to see, hug, “Kiss,” dance, and get together with all you dearly beloveds again — and that’s what Wiggy chooses to #CheersTo to this PRIDE. 💋🌈🤎🖤🏳️‍⚧️

This month, Perrier® asked me what I’d like to cheers to as our lives start to float back into normalcy. I decided to #CheersTo habits. Keeping the good ones we’ve learned this past year, breaking the bad ones, and remembering to bring self-care into our quickly busying routines. This Pride month, let go of any toxicity and instead spend your energy on the people who make you sparkle as the best version of yourself.

We are so excited to partner with Perrier® for Pride! Check out the custom cocktail we created for the occasion that we are calling the Lavender Love Fizz. We were inspired by the purple color in the rainbow flag, created by artist and activist Gilbert Baker in 1978, which represents “spirit,” as well as the blooming lavender and purple flowers all over LA right now. We will be celebrating Pride all month long, and we are excited and honored to toast to the spirit of everyone who came before us.

Lavender Love Fizz

4oz Perrier®

2oz gin

1oz fresh squeezed Meyer lemon juice

1/2oz lavender agave (make in advance – recipe below)

1 egg white

Add gin, fresh squeezed lemon juice, lavender agave and egg white into dry shaker (no ice).

Shake for 20-30 seconds until foamy.

Add full scoop of ice into shaker and shake for another 20-30 seconds.

Strain into collins glass over fresh ice.

Pour Perrier® to fill glass and complete the cocktail.

Lavender Agave Recipe:

Add 1 cup of agave to 1 cup of water in a small sauce pan.

Simmer for 5 minutes

Remove from heat and let cool.

Happy Pride Month! After a crazy year, we all deserve a break and a drink! Being in quarantine for this past year inspired me to make a cocktail that was accessible, not requiring any special ingredients that I would have to venture out to get.

One of my favorite drinks is the Green Apple Martini, but it requires apple pucker and sweet and sour mix, which people may or may not have. My unconventional version is just as delicious and refreshing and uses simple ingredients everyone has in their home.

#CheersTo everyone having deserved fun after a crazy year, be safe and enjoy this drink 🍹

Green Apple Martini

3 Green Apples 🍏 🍏 🍏

Perrier® Lemon 🍋

Vodka (Optional)

Blend the apples

Strain

I have been bartending for over 10 years but I really got into the cocktail scene in 2015 when I worked at a wonderful gay cocktail bar, Mattachine. It is there that I really was immersed in such a beautiful and caring community and learned so much history about the gay rights movement. Since we had to close our doors in 2018, I have remained very much a part of the community working at redline gay bar in Dtla. Creating cocktails is my passion and I am so fortunate to be able to share that! I absolutely love being a lesbian woman in Los Angeles, we have such a strong, amazing support system here for the entire LGBTQIA community.

I am excited to #CheersTo being able to safely reconnect this pride season! I created this cocktail thinking about the warmth of June in Los Angeles during pride season & how wonderful enjoying a refreshing, bright cocktail is with friends! So #CheersTo our community, health, and new experiences!

Reverend Perrier®️

.5 oz lemon

1oz shrub

2oz vodka (omit for a mock tail)

Perrier®

Tall Collins

Strawberry & sprit of tarragon and rosemary for garnish

Shake lemon, shrub and vodka with ice, strain into ice filled Collins glass, fill with Perrier®,

Shrub recipe:

1.5 strawberries halved

3 peaches chopped

2 tarragon sprigs

2 Rosemary sprigs

1 cup sugar

1 cup water

3/4 cup red wine vinegar

Splash balsamic

Combine water and sugar in large saucepan over medium low heat until sugar is dissolved. Add strawberries, peaches, tarragon and rosemary. Simmer on low heat until syrup is deep red and fruit looks “tired” about 30-45 minutes. Fine strain (discard solids) add vinegar and splash of balsamic. Return to simmer for 30 minutes. Let cool and store in air right glass container in fridge for up to a month.

This is an Ode to Reverend Perry. Reverend Perry performed the First gay marriages in the country, right here in sunny Los Angeles, first with two men in 1968 and two women in 1969. Troy D. Perry founded the Metropolitan Community Church in October of 1968 and was the first of its kind to openly accept the gay community into its congregation.

It’s been such a whirlwind of a year that I just can’t wait to be able to cheers under blue skies with my friends and family.

I’ve decided to pull in Perrier® Peach as my main squeeze for this cocktail because peaches reflect happiness in all areas of our life and the satisfaction that comes from being at peace with our health, work, love and relationships. And if that doesn’t scream Pride to you, I don’t know what will!

I’ve also incorporated some familiar flavours with a local LA white whiskey brand that compliments the cocktail beautifully to show that LA Love for Pride.

After a year locked inside, we finally get to celebrate pride face to face with the people we love! I am ready to #CheersTo my community and friends and party down! We have a bunch of wild flowers growing in our patio and so many people come to share memories there so I created a floral, tart & citrus forward tonic. I combined Perrier® with the earthiness of tequila and voila! I hope that this crushable drink brings so much joy and happiness to all … LET’S GET IT PRIDE!

My Inspiration for this cocktail is all about fresh flavors that make you feel good and that are bright and inviting. Watermelon is a flavor that puts a smile on everyone’s face and with a kiss of grapefruit the flavors just go so well together. Pride month is a way of proclaiming to yourself and to the world that you should be happy with who you are, and you are enough just the way you are. #CheersTo us all.

First up is a fresh cooler with a kiss of Grapefruit.
