Whether you’re staying in, venturing out or heading out of town, here are some ideas for ringing in the 2022 New Year. 

Long Beach’s original Tiki bar, The Bamboo Club, is ringing in the New Year with a lineup of local artists and DJs on Friday, December 31. Starting at 8 p.m., the Bamboo Club will host musical guests inside and outside for an immersive experience. Inside, the Tiki-decorated dining room will transport guests to an island paradise as Rockabilly DJ Madame X jams out with musical guests DJ Fat Kat and DJ Dynomite Lola. Outdoors, under the venue’s massive tent, DJ Dennis Owens will take the stage to open for the popular Los Angeles-based Breakestra band. 

The full menu will be offered until 11 p.m. and will feature favorites like the Huli Chicken Sandwich, Adobo Chicken Pork Belly Bowl, and vegan Spaghetti Squash Pad Thai, made with spaghetti squash noodles, carrots, peanuts, bean sprouts, cilantro and crispy garlic. From 11 p.m. to 1 a.m., the restaurant’s new Yakitori skewer menu will be available as well as tiki cocktails including Mai Tais, Piña Coladas and Zombies.

Hollywood is buzzing in the vinyl district where the Thompson Hollywood and the brand new tommie Hollywood are ground zero for rooftop hijinks.

There’s a Rockin’ Rodeo at the newly opened Desert 5 Spot on top of the tommie Hollywood on Friday, December 31 from 8:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. Highlights include an open bar, passed hors d’oeuvres, tequila toast, live band and DJ Wade Crescent. Midnight in the French Riviera at Bar Lis takes place at the Thompson Hollywood on Friday, December 31 from 8:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. and includes an open bar, passed hors d’oeuvres, champagne toast, live jazz performances and DJ Greg Cerrone. Rockin’ Rodeo at the new Desert 5 Spot (Michael Mundy)

For those heading out to the desert and looking for something extravagant, Dive Palm Springs, the petite, adults-only oasis inspired by 1960’s French Riviera, is launching “Menage a Trois,” a two-night package from December 31 – January 2 to celebrate New Year’s Eve across the globe.

It starts with a Parisian lunch celebration featuring Dive’s French-inspired three-course lunch menu paired with French wines to coincide with the New Year in Paris at 3 p.m. local time. After an afternoon of lounging, desert sun, and splashing in the restored original Libott pool, indulge in an East Coast-inspired four-course dinner followed by a New York New Year’s Eve celebration at 9 p.m. local time. Afterward, Dive will offer guests local options to toast for the third time as midnight strikes in Palm Springs. 

Starting at $1,125 per person (minimum of 2 people per room), the package includes the two-night stay at Dive, NYE lunch and dinner, and a bottle of Jacquart Brut Champagne.

Fat Sal’s Deli & Sandwich Shop will be offering their ultra-secret sandwich menu for revelers ringing in the New Year available only from midnight – 3 a.m. on New Year’s Eve. The never-released Fat Sal’s secret menu includes:

  • The Fat Cordon Bleu: Thinly sliced grilled ham, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, melted swiss, fries, homemade honey mustard on a garlic hero.
  • The Fat Matty: Chicken fingers, crispy bacon, mozzarella sticks, melted American cheese, lettuce, tomato, fries, mayo, ketchup, salt and pepper on a hero.
  • The Fat LA Street Dog: Two grilled hot dogs, crispy bacon, sauteed peppers and onion, melted American cheese, jalapeno peppers, fries, mustard, ketchup, fat sauce on a hero.
  • The Fat Jackson: Thinly sliced roast beef, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, melted swiss cheese, coleslaw, fries, Russian dressing on a hero.
  • The Fat Lombardi: Thinly sliced ham and pepperoni, ground beef, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, melted provolone, fries, marinara, grated parmesan on a hero.
  • The Double Mushroom Swiss: Two quarter-pound USDA-certified Angus burgers, melted swiss cheese, sauteed mushrooms and onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles and fat sauce.
  • The Pastrami Western Burger: A quarter-pound USDA-certified Angus burger, melted cheddar cheese, crisp bacon, hot pastrami, chicken fingers, onion rings, honey barbecue sauce, mayo on a garlic buttered bun.
  • The Pepperoni Pizza Burger: A quarter-pound USDA-certified Angus burger, melted provolone cheese, grilled pepperoni, mozzarella sticks, and marinara sauce on a garlic buttered bun. 

Party like it’s 1999 in West Hollywood at Employees Only with a 90’s New Year Party. A ticket covers a premium open bar, 90’s style snacks, live band, DJ, games, and more – costumes encouraged. The party runs from  9:30 p.m. – 2 a.m. For tickets and details visit Nightout.

The Marina del Rey Hotel will once again hold its annual New Year’s Eve celebration featuring a red-carpet photo, party favors and dancing on the pool deck. Fireworks over the Marina take place both at 9 p.m. and midnight. Once the clock strikes midnight, ring in 2022 with a complimentary champagne toast and light bites.  Theía, is hosting a ticketed New Year’s Eve Party that includes a three-course meal, cocktails and live entertainment for $125 per ticket. In addition to belly and fire dancers, acrobats and a DJ, the meal includes a choice of appetizer, entrée (upcharge for the Loup de Mer and Tomahawk), any side and any dessert. Theía has added new winter cocktails to the menu including YaYa’s Cider (apple whiskey, cider, cinnamon syrup and prosecco); Krampus (tequila repo, lemon, rosemary syrup, charcoal and coconut cream); and You’ve Gotta Pumpkin Up (rum, pumpkin liqueur and pineapple with a graham cracker rim). Tickets to two seatings of Theía’s New Year’s Eve Party can be reserved on OpenTable, and payment must be made onsite on December 31.

Conservatory West Hollywood Brunch Pancakes (Max Milla)

For New Year’s Eve at  Conservatory West Hollywood, there will be an early seating  ($110), late seating ($150) and a bar seating ($60) for a specially created menu from Executive Chef Victor Munoz. Look out for items like Madre Mole (aged mole, young mole, blue corn tortillas, pan dulce), Snake River Farms Filet (Maitre D’hotel butter, malt vinegar cordyceps, au poivre), Pink Grouper (pave, espresso foam, Shimeji fondue, roasted hazelnut) or capellini with porcini veloute, Grana Padano, chives, sorrel, coffee cured yolk. Also included will be a photo booth, DJ and a complimentary bubbles toast. 

And for the day after, there’s a Hangover Brunch from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 1 and Sunday, January 2, featuring Munoz’s new brunch menu, a DJ and a Bloody Mary and mimosa station. New brunch items include Potato Hash & The Hen, chicken and gravy, and ube and cinnamon toast crunch pancakes.

It all starts with his

Blood Mary Hot Sauce:

(Whisk together)

1 6 oz can tomato paste

Zest from 1 lemon

1/4 cup lemon juice

1 tsp ground black pepper

2 tsp prepared horseradish

3 Tbs Tabasco

2 tsp Worcestershire

1/2 tsp granulated garlic

1 tsp salt

1 Tbs sugar

1/4 c vodka or water

   

Boozy Breakfast Sandwich:

1 bagel toasted and buttered

1 egg fried cooked medium

2 bacon strips cooked and chopped into pieces

1 Tbs Bloody Mary Hot Sauce

1 small handful fresh cut celery julienne

A few springs of fresh dill

Garnish with fresh celery seed and cracked black pepper.

Bloody Mary Michelada:

2 tsp Bloody Mary Hot Sauce

Tajin seasoning

Lime 

1 beer

    *Rub rim of glass with lime and coat with Tajin seasoning. Add ice, Bloody Mary hot sauce, then gently stir in 1/2 of the beer. Add the remaining beer, and garnish with a lime wedge.
