It's the house that cannabis culture helped to build.

But unfortunately for you fans of Up In Smoke it wasn't built out of actual weed. (If that were the case surfers would have plundered the last stem a long time ago).Cheech Marin's Malibu home is on the market for $5.9 million.

The nearly one-acre property features a four-bedroom main house and three-bedroom guest house, both apparently done in Craftsman-style architecture (which would be modest by 'bu standards).

The residence is right on the beach. So if you believe that weed cultivation has contributed in a bad way to global warming and an inevitable rise in sea level, maybe it's not the place for you.

But if you think Marin has cache as a pop culture icon and collector of Chicano art, maybe it is.

(Seems to us that $6 mil for beach-side property in Malibu is a steal).

One thing's for sure about the home, though: No matter how many times you knock …

… Dave won't be there.
