On Friday, June 2, just in time to make that lifeguard movie look even worse, smoking-hot Angelenos celebrated at Gaywatch, the official afterparty for the second annual Venice Pride. For more than three decades, the famous gay bar Roosterfish was a local landmark and the only LGBTQ bar west of the 405. In 2016, in one of the most tone-deaf examples of gentrification in L.A. history, Roosterfish's landlord raised the rent so high that the bar had to close. This led to the first Venice Beach Pride Fest, a celebration for residents who needed to remind the world and themselves that, even without that sanctuary, pride in Venice is strong.
Gaywatch, held at the Birdcage Santa Monica, was sold out and packed to the rafters (it took 20 minutes to walk 300 feet upstairs). There were two dance floors, a line out the door for drinks, and so many hunky guys (and gorgeous gals) that we couldn't help but share some snaps of the epic party. Enjoy.
