27-Year-Old Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision near Figueroa Street

EAGLE ROCK, CA (July 21, 2022) – Sunday night, 27-year-old Chase Newton was pronounced dead following a pedestrian crash on Ventura Freeway.

The incident occurred around 11:38 p.m., on the 134 Freeway, just west of Figueroa Street. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

For reasons unknown, Newton was walking along the lanes of the highway when he was struck by a grey Hyundai Veloster. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced Newton dead at the scene.

California Highway Patrol then closed down the surrounding area for investigation and cleanup duties.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding the fatal pedestrian collision remain unclear. Officers request that any witnesses to the incident please call local authorities as soon as possible.
