Deadly Crash in Highway 65 of Bakersfield Kills Two People, Including Elderly Man

BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 26, 2021) – Authorities identified the two victims of the fatal crash on Highway 65 last Saturday as Charles Elbert Melton and Blas Roman Jr.

Initially, the incident occurred around 1 P.M. on July 24 at Highway 65 near Burbank Street involving a minivan and an SUV.

Officials closed down the traffic along the area at Imperial Street as a result of the crash.

Eventually, The Kern County Coroner’s office identified both of the deceased victims as Charles Elbert Melton, 85, of Delano and Blas Roman Jr., 27, of Porterville.

However, the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision remain unclear.

Bakersfield Officials are investigating the incident.
