Some crimes you just don't want to know about.

Cops this week say Cesar Pedroza, a 21-year-old Big Bear Lake resident, was taking care of his three kids when his 10-week-old baby girl stopped breathing.

The trigger, authorities say, was extensive brain trauma caused by …

… abuse.

The girl ended up in a coma, and cops didn't buy Pedroza's story that it was a simple case of the toddler becoming unconscious while she was being fed, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

He was arrested on suspicion of assault on a child.

Pedroza was also taking care of his 4- and 2-year-old in the 41200 Block of Lahontan Drive Saturday when he called for help, deputies said: The girl was taken to Loma Linda Medical Center and remained in a coma.

He was arrested Monday at 6:45 p.m. after deputies looked into the matter. They didn't say exactly how they believe the baby sustained trauma.

Pedroza was jailed in lieu of a half-million dollars bail.
