Is it mayoral retribution for David Goldstein's investigative reports about workers from his beloved Department of Water and Power drinking on the job? Or maybe the LAPD has ambushed transmission lines to get back at the reporter for his (somewhat thin) report about parking tickets to cops that have gone unpaid. Whatever the reason, LA Observed reports that CBS2 and sister station KCAL9 have been off the air on Time Warner Cable, DirecTV, DISH, Charter Communications, Cox and FIOS since about 3:10 p.m. Blogger Franklin Avenue also reports that phone communications at the dual station's Fairfax district studios, “Television City,” are out.

Updated at 5 p.m: KTLA News reporter Eric Spillman tweets that the stations are back up. LA Observed cites sources who said the stations were hit by a power outage.
