CBD edible are available in numerous different forms. From cake pops to candies, you can now name any food and its highly likely that someone is cooking up a CBD version of it. So, what we’re trying to say is that CBD edibles are quite commonplace these days. Especially now that Delta-8 has been made legal. Producers and cannabis lovers all over the U.S are trying their hand at CBD and testing waters to see what concoction they can create.

Given the times that we currently live in, it’s no longer surprising that many of us want to take a moment out and just breathe.

If you’re not already aware of what cannabidiol is, let us explain.

CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is extracted from the cannabis sativa plant which produces over a hundred other compounds called cannabinoids. CBD is well known for its relaxation inducing state, it eases the mind and the body as well as aiding in preventing insomnia. As it is derived from the hemp plant, it is not as mind-altering as THC. It’s known for its non-psychoactive effects, that is, unlike THC, CBD doesn’t cause anxiety or paranoia.

What are edibles?

Edibles are foods that are incorporated with CBD. However, edibles do not contain psychoactive components, and even if they contain THC, it is just a trace and nothing more. However, it is popular for its ability to cure everything. Products such as CBD shots are infused into drinks and are thought to relieve pain, induce calmness and improve your mood. Nevertheless, many people argue that for you to actually feel anything beyond the placebo effect, you need to take a handful of edibles to feel something. The edibles sold in dispensaries are under the legal limit, which is why the effects may not be as strong. For you to feel a “high” you must consume somewhere between 300mg to 600mg. Edibles sold in the market or online contain only a fraction of this dosage.

What types of edibles are out there?

CBD Capsules and Gummies:

These are usually sold and advertised as sleeping pills that are low dosage. This can range from somewhere between 5mg to 50mg. the gummies do come in several different shapes such as circles, squares and even gummy bears. Since they’re made out of gelatin, they have a very long shelf life and can be stored for a couple of months.

Hard Candies:

Hard candies are similar to gummies – they taste great and you have plenty of options such as mint, to choose from. However, unlike gummies, hard candies such as lollipops take longer to consumer because of their tough texture. Choosing between gummies and candies can be hard, but take your pick, you will enjoy it regardless.

Baked goods:

Baked goods are the most common type of edibles known. They have been around for quite some time, even before CBD became legal. The best part about baked goods is that you can take your pick of the product you feel like consuming, usually people go for brownies, but you can incorporate CBD concentrate into anything. Make muffins, cookies, cakes, bars, whatever you like! You can either try to formulate your own recipe or head down to your favorite sports bar with your friends and try all CBD infused goodies they have to offer.

CBD chocolates:

If you love chocolates and you also enjoy the feeling of being “high”, then why not just get CBD chocolates? Yes, that really does exist! Usually a bar of chocolate may contain around 250mg of CBD while each square may contain 10mg.

CBD infused drinks:

You might have already heard of CBD water, CBD tea or even CBD beer. These drinks are often containing dosages between 10mg to 25mg per bottle. So, it may be great to quench your thirst but unless you’re hoping to achieve a “high”, you might need a little more than just one drink. However, do avoid mixing CBD infused drinks with alcohol as the effects may be damaging.

What to expect from edibles?

The thing about legally available gummies and other edibles is that they follow the legal standards and hence the effect caused by consuming just a single one might be placebo. Usually each edible varies in dosage but in keeping with the standard, it will not get you “high” as per say. However, we do not recommend taking heavy dosage, especially if you have never tried an edible before.

A rule of thumb when it comes to edibles is that you have to be patient. CBD is not the same as THC and the effects are apparent only after the first 30 to 60 mins. Wait it out. Don’t become impatient or lose sight of what you’re trying to achieve. Once the effect takes over is when you’ll know whether or not you need more. Listen to your body and don’t pressurize yourself.

Every time you do take CBD, make sure you don’t have it on an empty stomach. Try having it with a meal. Experts believe that the best results can only be achieved if edibles are taken prior to any food because absorption level is much higher.

The high can last somewhere between 6 to 8 hours. However, you can expect peak blood levels after the initial three hours have passed. The high that you will experience at this point will be the maximum you can experience throughout the duration.

Lastly, make sure to read the label as well as the amounts of CBD and THC. Sometimes, the serving size may ask you to take a portion of the product rather than the whole thing. Even with given dosages, effects may vary from person to person so we advise you start slow.

If you are careful of how you consume edibles you will surely have a great time, experience tranquility and ease. Try not to overthink it and just be present in the moment.
