Ah, where would we be without our summertime, white-lady crime? In this edition we have not a missing Anglo female, but a woman accused of murdering her 2-year-old daughter.

And after the not guilty verdict form Florida in the Casey Anthony case, we haven't seen this much public outrage over a the jury's allegedly shortsighted decision since a man named O.J. Simpson was widely believed to have gotten away with murder right here in L.A. even though he was acquitted in the stabbing deaths of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ronald Goldman.

Even TMZ lawyer-in-residence Harvey Levin, who covered that crazy O.J. trial in 1995, tweeted:

having covered OJ Simpson … nothing really shocks me anymore. but this verdict really surprises me….especially how quickly it came

As in the O.J. trial, Anthony's prosecution was dependent on circumstantial evidence — and the jurors weren't buying it.

Authorities argued that baby Caylee was suffocated with duct tape and that Casey claimed the girl had gone missing to cover up the alleged murder.

Defense attorney Cheney Mason told the media — the 25-year-old woman's tale of partying after the girl's death made the likes of 48 Hours MysteryI told you so.

I hope that this is a lesson to those of you that have indulged in media assassination the last three years.

Casey Anthony did see a conviction on four counts of lying to investigators and could see four years behind bars when she's sentenced Thursday.
