33-Year-Old Woman Dies in Pedestrian Accident near Highland Palm Drive

HOMELAND, CA (June 16, 2023) – Monday night, Carrie Walrath was fatally struck in a pedestrian accident on Highway 74.

The incident occurred around 9:35 p.m., on the westbound lanes of Highway just east of Highland Palm Drive.

Per reports, Walrath attempted to cross the corridor from south to north outside of a marked crosswalk. There, the driver of a 2002 Ford F-250 pickup-truck struck the pedestrian.

Investigators say Walrath walked directly into the path of the Ford driven by a 21-year-old man. The Ford driver was unable to avoid hitting the pedestrian.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced 33-year-old Walrath dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway.
