Is there anyone more deserving as L.A.'s honorary Mayor of Coolness than Carrie Fisher? Formerly and currently, she's been a badass, rock star–marry-er, princess, celebrity spawn, druggie, actress, damn fine wordsmith, mother and mental health patient. And she's funny as hell: “I was street-smart, but unfortunately the street was Rodeo Drive.” Her memoir Wishful Drinking translated to a Tony- and Emmy-nominated one-woman show, complete with Princess Leia buns. As the memory-slamming effects of her electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) treatment for bipolar disorder became apparent, she decided to write Shockaholic as a repository for more colorful life stories. The book has plenty of dish on former neighbor Michael Jackson and her ex-stepmother, Elizabeth Taylor. Let's just hope she remembers to show up. Book Soup, 8818 Sunset Blvd., W. Hlywd.; Wed., Feb. 15, 7 p.m.; free, book is $22. (310) 659-3110.
