Farmers market favorite Carmela Ice Cream is back after a brief shut-down — and this time founder Jessica Mortarotti has a brick-and-mortar creamery that set to open within the next two to three weeks.

The Carmela Artisanal Ice Creamery, nestled in northeastern Pasadena, will churn out and sell the the company's signature small-batch and seasonal flavors along with dessert collaborations from local businesses: toppings by Valerie Confections, teas and marshmallows by Sugarbird Teas & Sweets and cupcakes by Blue Cupcake. They are also in talks with Heirloom LA to create a lunch menu.

Mortarotti is also launching a vintage 1975 ice cream that will roll out around the same time the creamery opens. It will appear at farmers markets, and private events but not streetside.
