62-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Collision near 88th Street

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 17, 2023) – Thursday, Carlos Mayor was arrested and Trina Newman-Townsend was killed in a hit-and-run on Broadway Street.

The fatal incident happened on Christmas Eve, at around 3:27 p.m., near 88th Street.

According to reports, after the involved vehicle struck Newman-Townsend, the driver did not stop to render aid to the victim. Instead, they fled the scene before authorities arrived.

Meanwhile, the impact of the collision left Newman-Townsend with fatal injuries. First responders arrived and declared 62-year-old Trina Newman-Townsend, of Los Angeles, dead at the scene.

The Los Angeles Police Department later found and arrested 55-year-old Carlos Mayor.

Trina Newman-Townsend’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help support the costs of her celebration of life.
