Hit-and-Run Suspect Arrested after Fatal Collision on California Avenue

HEMET, CA (February 16, 2022) Glen Hysom was killed and Carlos Arturo Acosta was arrested after a crash on Stetson Avenue, Thursday night.

According to reports, the suspect drove a 2008 GMC Acadia in the area of California and Stetson Avenues and hit the bicyclist.

Furthermore, the suspect did not stop or render aid to the victim and sped away northbound. Moreover, the Riverside County Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male bicyclist from Hemet dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, officers pursued the suspect to a ranch property on Ocean Avenue in Homeland where they took him into custody.

Authorities later booked 38-year-old Carlos Arturo Acosta of Homeland to Smith Correctional Facility in Banning for suspected hit-and-run.

At this time, police are holding Acosta on a $75,000 bail.
