2 Planes Collide at Watsonville Municipal Airport; 2 Killed

WATSONVILLE, CA (August 24, 2022) Carl Kruppa, Nannette Plett-Kruppa, and Stuart Camenson died in a two-plane crash, Thursday afternoon.

Authorities responded to the scene around 3:00 p.m., after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area of two planes colliding.

The incident took place at the Watsonville Municipal Airport, east of Santa Cruz involving two small planes. Investigators say the collision involved a twin-engine Cessna 340 holding three occupants, and a single-engine Cessna 152 with one occupant.

All occupants were killed in the collision and were identified as 75-year-old Carl Kruppa, 67-year-old Nannette Plett-Kruppa, and 32-year-old Stuart Camenson.

Meanwhile, the cause of the crash has not yet been identified and further investigations by the FAA and the NTSB are currently underway.
