DUI Driver Fatally Strikes Pedestrian in Deadly Accident on El Camino Real

MILLBRAE, CA (March 16, 2021) – Monday night on March 1, 29-year-old Carina Chavez, of Oakland, was arrested after a pedestrian crash on El Camino Real.

Police Officers responded to the 100 block of El Camino Real around 9:45 p.m., after receiving multiple dispatch calls. According to reports, Chavez was driving a Honda when she struck a pedestrian while they were crossing the road.

Upon arrival, paramedics immediately transported the pedestrian to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving measures, the pedestrian was later pronounced dead.

Meanwhile, Carina Chavez was charged with suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. She was later arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility.

At this time, authorities have not yet released the identity of the deceased pedestrian. However, an active investigation to determine further details is still underway.
