Attendees and exhibitors enjoyed the CannaFarm Con 2019 last month, which explored and addressed topics such as compliance, innovative technology, extraction methods, growing techniques and the importance of testing.“Today’s cannabis farm environment is as complex as ever and we are honored to help the industry navigate a market that is facing rising production costs, narrowing margins, flat growth, unpredictable growing seasons, and an influx of new cannabis agro-technologies,” said Celeste Miranda, CEO and founder of MACE Media Group, the events organizer. “CannaFarm Con is about creating an educational platform where cannabis agriculture can develop further.”

With an emphasis on farming and farming technology, the conference was a niche for the industry’s agriculture side. “It is one of our most targeted trade shows and it serves as a place where industry players can come together to provide novel and educational content” said Ms. Miranda. Overall feedback from the exhibitors was positive and attendees were enthusiastic throughout the conference and shared praise of the quality of speakers that presented at the event. The conference featured an extraction workshop by Dr. John MacKay — chief technology officer at New Bridge Global Ventures. “The extraction workshop was exactly what I came for; an invaluable opportunity for anyone looking for a deeper understanding of growing and processing in the cannabis industry. The trip all the way from Maryland was definitely worth it.” said Trey Freeman, CEO and founder of Trés Free Organics.

Expert speakers in the fields of chemistry, agriculture, marketing and hemp farming compliance appeared, and panelists spoke from various government departments, including the Franchise Tax Board, a representative from California’s secretary of state, and Cal/OSHA. The exhibition hall included over 70 booths, including companies in agriculture technology, lighting, extraction machinery, soil products and more. Cal/OSHA had a booth, as well as the Employment Development Department. Attendees enjoyed networking beside the view of Mission Bay. The events staff announced awards based on categories such as innovative agro-technology, revolutionary cultivation technique, most influential grower and best in show awards: indoor lighting and soil formulation.

The second day featured a plant trimming workshop from master grower Harry Resin called “Trimming 101: The Workshop.” Resin gave an enlightening presentation on maintaining plants and promoting plant production and care. Harry was glad to provide support for some of the most surprising claims, including the notion that watering cannabis plants with a diluted amount of sparkling water promotes growth by supplying slightly higher quantities of carbon. Growers in attendance were pleased with the knowledge shared.

With the beautiful venue, business deals between company representatives, and an extremely knowledgeable collection of experts from every aspect of cannabis farming, CannaFarm Con proved to be a successful event.
