Cannabis is the source of both cannabidiol and industrial hemp, so these two terms tend to be used interchangeably. Cannabidiol and hemp are not one and the same. One is nutrition-based to a greater extent, whereas the other possibly offer more benefits as a treatment option. When seeking to purchase cannabidiol oil or industrial hemp oil, you should recognize how these differ to know when to best use each product. Here, we will do a hemp oil vs CBD oil comparison to help you with that purchase.

Differences Between Cannabidiol Oil And Industrial Hemp Oil

The two products use different parts of industrial hemp as their raw materials. Hemp oil manufacturing requires the seeds of industrial hemp. On the other hand, making cannabidiol oil requires the leaves, flowers and the stalk of the herb.

Each part offers different compounds and nutrients. For example, industrial hemp seeds have a high fatty acid content. A recent study explored a form of hempseed oil and discovered that the product contained omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids(FA), at a ratio of 3:1 or so. That product also contained polyunsaturated-type fatty acids.

The components of a cannabidiol product differ according to whether the item is of the isolate, broad-spectrum or full-spectrum type. A cannabidiol isolate product contains just CBD as an industrial hemp cannabinoid. Conversely, broad-spectrum and full-spectrum cannabidiol items also have other hemp compounds, like non-CBD cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes.

Hemp Oil Advantages

Based on its makeup, a hemp oil product is usually more nutritional. According to a recent study featured in the ‘Nutrients’ journal, hemp seeds have fatty acids, carotenoids, tocopherols, antioxidants, and other healthy components. The blend of the nutrients and all the additional components can make industrial hemp oil items more useful for nutrition.

That does not mean that consuming hemp oil will not help to treat certain health conditions. For example, animal-based research has discovered that industrial hemp can relieve pain. A recent study shows that industrial hemp-based pesticides may have anti-cancer attributes as well, specifically for liver cancer.

Cannabidiol Oil Benefits

Cannabidiol oil product compounds are more about their potential physical and mental health benefits and less about nutritional advantages. The potential CBD health benefits are related to the different cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that they contain. As per a 2019 research review, cannabinoids offer immunomodulatory, neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory benefits. Many studies have credited cannabidiol with antidepressant and anxiolytic properties too.
