Sissies who are afraid of swallowing a little dust should haul their brie and couscous to the Hollywood Bowl. Pomona Fairplex's annual KABOOM!, this year themed “Red, White & Boom,” is so manly, you'll be belching and scratching yourself until Christmas. Freedom-loving freestyle motocross racers jump and flip in the air, while 11,000-pound monster trucks that go by names like Bounty Hunter, Iron Outlaw, Unnamed & Untamed and Nasty Boy roll through mud. As always, the display of flickering lights — very manly lights — comes courtesy of Pyro Spectaculars by Souza, a family-operated West Cost fireworks company that goes back 100 years, and lists a few Olympic games, Super Bowls, a World Cup, presidential inauguration and even a Pink Floyd tour as past events.
