Paris Hilton is no stranger to the ways of clubland. She was a frequent flier to Miami's annual DJ retreat known as the Winter Music Conference and even won a “Best Celebrity DJ” award during festivities there about 10 years ago.
By the time of her famous 2009 fracas with superstar DJ Steve Angello, Hilton was already a familiar face in the dance scene, including at the annual Electric Daisy Carnival rave, where she's treated as EDM royalty. So it doesn't surprise us that the hotel heiress has gone full Pete Tong. Last night at Hollywood club Create, Hilton celebrated the release of her pop-trance single “Good Time” (video below) by treating us to her first public DJ performance ever in the United States. We were there to evaluate her skills.

The single features Lil Wayne and was produced by her onetime, reported boyfriend, DJ Afrojack. It's a bit predictable, sounding a little like something Kaskade might have done five years ago.
In fact EDM heads are still wary of Hilton as a celebrity outsider, despite her history. She's a fraud, they've said, a fake DJ. What was she doing all these years with those headphones on?
Her DJ set in Brazil in 2012 certainly didn't help to raise expectations. In it she was clearly “train wrecking” — mixing two songs together without aligning the tempo of their beats — and fading the sound in and out with no apparent purpose.
Last night, however, was a different story. Our honest take? She rocks!

If she was faking it last night in Hollywood, she did a good job.
Hilton showed up fashionably late. And she proceeded to rock the club with a thumping set worthy of Electric Daisy Carnival.
She was banging non-stop, Afrojack-style.
We're not sure if she was actually DJing, but she was hitting all the right buttons at the right time. She appeared to be using Traktor softwear on a laptop alongside a Traktor controller. (DJing is not rocket science. Despite its origins in the brown-and-black inner-city, even white girls can do it, we swear).
We were impressed. It was a good time. Snoop Doog strolled by in a cloud of goodness. It was crazy.
Can she spin? Not really sure. Maybe. You want us to give her a test? Tell her people.

The 1,400-capacity Hollywood club Create, taken over by nightlife king Sam Nazarian in partnership with EDC's promoter, Insomniac Events, was the perfect place for a collision of Hollywood celebrity and rave ecstasy.
It has a killer, Funktion-One sound system, a DJ booth fit for a princess, and plenty of nearby tables for mutli-thousand-dollar bottle service.
Hilton had them waiting until almost 1 a.m. Not bad for a Tuesday night.
