Sometimes the path to true enlightenment — and good comedy — is paved with heartache and struggle. In the case of actress and comedian Angela Trimbur, a regular in the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre's “Maude” sketch night, it was also paved with a whole lot of Watchtower pamphlets. Trimbur brings her autobiographical show Trapped! Life as a Homeschooled Jehovah's Witness to the UCB this week. The frustrations of her youth — having her mother, recently converted to a Jehovah's Witness, pull her out of public school, severing her ties to friends and banning holiday celebrations, and forcing her into joining the door-to-door pulpit ranks — make for a humorous evening about overcoming spiritual and literal imprisonment. As the show's synopsis entails, “Sometimes the pathway to freedom can be found when you give a BJ to a JW.”
