Los Angeles is the traffic congestion capital of America. And, because it's the second least-affordable housing market for middle class families, it's also an epicenter for long-distance commuters.

It's no wonder, then, that California tops a list of states in which job-seekers are looking for stay-at-home gigs. That's the conclusion of employment site FlexJobs, which says it based its findings on job search data from February, March and April.

You really don't like driving to work:

California beat out Texas (number 2), New York (3), Florida (4) and Illinois (5), some of the other most-populous, most traffic-congested states.

The site says that seven out of 10 of those states match up with states that offer the most telecommuting work and, yes, California is one of them.

FlexJobs reported early this year that the Golden State also topped its list of “10 Best States for Telecommuting Jobs.”

At the time Xerox, American Express, Aetna, the U.S. Forest Service were all hiring for work-from-home gigs in California.

But wait, there's more: Remember, this is telecommuting. You don't have to work for a California company to work at home. Sara Sutton Fell, CEO of FlexJobs:

It's often the case that telecommuters wind up working for companies based in another state.

So get to work.
