The cold and flu season is almost behind us, but here's a nice bit of news, just in case:

California is one of “2015’s Best States for Doctors,” says personal finance site WalletHub. That's kind of a no-brainer, given Hollywood's hypochondriacs and its plastic surgery–obsessed celebs. Beverly Hills is like one, giant high-end doctor's office.

There's plenty of money here for docs who want to cash in on what the site describes as a $176,000 postgraduate education.

WalletHub's analysts looked at metrics that include earning potential, competition, patient population, job risks, medical board penalties, and more.

California ranked as the 14th best state for doctors in the United States, the site found. We ranked high in wages, physicians per capita and relatively affordable malpractice insurance costs.

The state made No. 8 on the list of states with good work environments, too. Of course.

This all makes sense. WalletHube says, “Physician is the most popular profession within the top 1 percent of earners.”

California has more billionaires than any other place in the world besides the United States and China. Doctors and cash is a match made in heaven. So long as your doctor doesn't send you there.
