Porterville Multi-Vehicle Crash Left One Fatality

PORTERVILLE, CA (August 10, 2021) – A multi-vehicle crash left one person killed, and Caleb Chavez and Ibrahim Homran injured.

The deadly incident happened around 3:12 a.m., on Highway 65 near Morton Avenue. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.

A 2014 International that was hauling a diesel tank slammed into a guard-rail after having tire failure while heading south on the highway.

Subsequently, the truck came to stop and became disabled in the road. There, a southbound 2021 GMC Sierra and a 2003 Honda Accord struck the left rear of the international.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, the 21-year-old Honda driver died at the scene.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported the Honda passenger, identified as 23-year-old Caleb Chavez, to Kaweah Delta Medical Center.

The 23-year-old GMC driver, Ibrahim Homran of Bakersfield, was also transported to the same hospital for major injuries.

At this time, the Porterville Officials are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
