Last weekend it was a question of how many tacos and how much Korean barbecue you could reasonably consume. This weekend? Cakes! But not just any cakes. This weekend is the second pop-up shop event from the folks at Cake Monkey, the pretty awesome North Hollywood bakery from pastry chef Elizabeth Belkind and owner Lisa Olin. And considering that their first pop-up was three years ago, you might want to take note.

For one weekend only, which would be this Friday, June 28, to this Sunday, June 30, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Cake Monkey will be popping up at Graffiti Sublime Coffee on North La Brea Ave. What you'll find: mini layer cakes, cake slices, pies, cake puddings, el rollos, the justly celebrated cakewiches, breakfast pastries — and probably other things too. Time to eat cake. Because it mostly always is, isn't it.
