Los Feliz has a good handful of coffee shops, including Bru Artisan Coffee + Tea, Cafecito Organico and Gelato Bar; come this summer, the neighborhood will add one more place to get caffeinated: Caffe Vita Coffee Roasting Company. The Seattle-based roastery and coffee shop tells us that they expect to open its cafe by the third week of June.

Located right at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Hillhurst Avenue, not too far from the above coffee shops — or Intelligentsia, for that matter — Caffe Vita takes over a space originally home to Uncle Jer's. It's currently boarded up, with no sign of the café save for a simple physical one displaying Caffe Vita's logo and mascot, Pulcinella.

Founded in 1995, Caffe Vita is one of the more prominent independent coffee shops in Seattle, with several locations throughout Washington and Portland. Back in January, we spotted their beans at Two Guns Espresso, where we had a lovely flat white, and, in March, its first New York shop opened on the Lower East Side. Caffe Vita's Los Feliz location will be its first cafe in California.
