… 87-years-old!

On Tuesday night he shot a man who had broken into his home, critically wounding him, according to an LAPD statement.

It happened about 9 p.m. at Goodwin's Baldwin Hills residence in the 5300 block of Rodeo Road. The LAPD says the …

… 87-year-old homeowner found two men attempting to break into the rear of his residence in the 5300 block of Rodeo Road. In fear for his life, the homeowner armed himself with a handgun and fired at the burglars. One suspect was shot and critically wounded. The second suspect ran from the location and is still at large.

Not only did the wounded burglar end up in the hospital, but cops are arresting him on suspicion of felony burglary. The other guy got away (if you have info on him call detectives at 213-485-4341).

Goodwin gets off scot-free. But we think he should at least get a medal for his valor.

According to City News Service he's a World War II veteran.
