A Los Angeles County District Attorney spokesperson has confirmed to the L.A. Weekly that the office is reviewing rape allegations against Building and Safety Department general manager Andrew Adelman.

Sandi Gibbons told the Weekly that the Los Angeles Police Department presented its case to the D.A.'s office today.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa issued a press release Tuesday announcing Adelman's resignation and his interim replacement, Raymond Chan. According to sources, Adelman was told to resign at a meeting with the mayor's office and building officials.

Adelman was put on administrative leave in August by the mayor after allegations surfaced that he raped an unconscious woman following a city-employee organized pub crawl. Adelman immediately hired celebrity attorney Mark Geragos to represent him.

Gibbons said she does not know when or if charges will be filed against the 52-year-old divorcee.
