The L.A. Times' Web site is reporting that L.A. Police Chief William Bratton will announce his resignation at a noon press conference today. The report says he plans to become the “head of a private security firm.” Bratton, who became LAPD chief in 2002, has three years left of his second term. There has been a spate of recent rumors about the chief's possible exit from the post for greener pastures.
