Brothers Benny and Nissan Pirian, owners of four Los Angeles area car washes, were each sentenced to one year behind bars and ordered to cough up $1.25 million in unpaid wages to 54 workers, according to La Opinion. The duo also received four years probation.

All this came as part of a plea agreement recently to settle a case that included criminal counts of conspiracy, grand theft and labor code violations. The pair pleaded no contest to the charges in exchange for the sentencing.

The duo's establishments, long the target of a boycott list put out by Clean Carwash Campaign and the AFL-CIO, employed workers without giving them minimum wage, overtime, drinking water and other basics.

The $1.25 million will be split among the 54 workers.

According to the Clean Carwash Campaign, the following six car washes were affiliated with the Pirians and their family:

-Vermont Hand Wash, 1666 N. Vermont Ave., at Hollywood and Vermont, Los Angeles

-Hollywood Car Wash, 6200 W. Sunset Blvd., near Sunset and Vine, Los Angeles

-Celebrity Car Wash, 901 N. Vine St., south of Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles

-Five Star Car Wash, 9240 Reseda Blvd., north of Nordhoff St., Northridge

-Lawndale Car Wash, 17111 Hawthorne Blvd., at 171st St., Lawndale

-Magic Wand Car Wash, 2974 E. Florence Ave., near Marconi St., Huntington Park
