The violence appears to involve an allegedly “sizable” jewelry theft for which David Nahman, 53, was also charged in a separate case, the LAPD said in a statement.

The LAPD says victim Amir Wolf, 47, was shot after he arrived home and parked in his driveway Jan. 8. According to a statement from the department:

As Wolf was arriving to his home and pulling into the driveway, an armed male suspect approached on foot and fired at him as he got out of his vehicle. The suspect then ran to a vehicle that was parked on a nearby street.

Wolf was hospitalized in critical condition but survived, cops said. A detective told us at the time that police didn't believe the attack involved a robbery.

Now we know why: Nahman was also charged with suspicion of witness tampering, the LAPD said.

He's due in court in Van Nuys Monday.

Police are still looking for witnesses: 818-374-7720.
