Children’s Hospital Los Angeles kicks off its month-long Make March Matter campaign, teaming up with local businesses to help raise funds for the hospital which provides life-saving services to more than 600,000 children each year. 

Shake Shack will donate 25% at all 12 locations, Ggiata Delicatessen is having a CHLA patient create a special Make March Matter sandwich with a percentage of sales donated to CHLA all month long and Go Get Em Tiger is creating a special cookie with sales going to CHLA during the month of March. Porto’s Bakery is bringing back their butterfly cookie with proceeds going to the campaign and Randy’s Donuts is creating a special donut at their Inglewood location. Uncle Paulie’s Deli will donate $1 from every sale as well as the option to donate at checkout. 

 Chef Ray Garcia is bringing back his beloved Broken Spanish starting today through the end of March at NeueHouse. As part of the month-long residency, NeueHouse and Life & Thyme are presenting a virtual panel discussion on Monday, March 1, with Garcia, Jorge Gaviria of Masienda and Aaron Choi of Girl & Dug Farm to discuss the current and future state of local and transnational agricultural supply chains.

DineLA Restaurant Week kicks off on Monday, March 1 and deals abound. Poppy + Rose is offering a $35 three-course menu including choice of starter including Chef Michael’s buttermilk biscuit with honey butter and housemade seasonal jam followed by a selection of entrees like shrimp and grits, brown butter waffle fried chicken sandwich, wild mushroom toast and for dessert, there’s   lemon bars, cookies and espresso chocolate mousse. For this dineLA, Poppy + Rose will be taking donations for the South L.A. Café Grocery Giveaway Initiative as well.

Actor James Van Der Beek challenges  the chefs of truTV’s  Fast Foodies  to remake and then remix his fast food favorite , the In-N-Out’s burger and fries, on tonight’s show. Top Chefs Kristen Kish, Jeremy Ford, and Justin Sutherland compete every Thursday for the love of  hungry celebrities by trying to recreate and  remix their favorite fast food dishes.  At the end of every episode, one chef is crowned the winner and takes home the Chompionship Trophy.  Check out the trailer here .
