After 13 years of managing Britney Spears’ finances, father Jamie Spears has agreed to step down as co-conservator, according to multiple reports.

Legal documents first obtained by TMZ state that while they believe there are no grounds for Jamie Spears being removed from the conservatorship, he is willing to work with the court for an “orderly transition to a new conservator.”

On July 26, Britney Spears’ new attorney Mathew Rosengart filed a request for a new conservator to handle her finances, with the singer requesting her father be charged with “conservatorship abuse,” as well.

“We look forward to continuing our vigorous investigation into the conduct of Mr. Spears, and others, over the past 13 years, while he reaped millions of dollars from his daughter’s estate, and I look forward to taking Mr. Spears’s sworn deposition in the near future,” Rosengart said.

Any time Spears has had a legal proceeding, fans have gathered across the country and in front of the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles, as the “Free Britney” movement has led to rallies, picketing, and overall support of Spears being removed from the conservatorship.

“The ‘Free Britney’ movement seeks to end the conservatorship of Britney Spears, raise awareness about conservatorship abuse and advocate reform in the probate system,” the Free Britney Army posted.

A hearing for Jamie Spears’ removal as conservator is expected to occur on September 29.
