Drew TewksburyThe fellas of FYF have been busy. Tonight, the fine FYF folks bring two fine shows to this wonderful urban octopus we call home. The legendary (yes, legendary, as in future generations will write legends about them on their future iPads that are embedded in their skull regions) hardcore gents Converge and Coalesce will blow up skulls (which are yet to have iPads embedded within them) with their aggro assaults at El Rey.
I know what you're thinking. Will there be a special FYF mix tape curated by converge? You bet your Honda there is! Yup, the first 300 people will get their grubby (we assume) paws/mitts on one. And if you're a superstar and/or human being capable of bending the space time continuum so that appear at multiple places at once, then witness the amazing Roky Erickson performing a one off set with Okkervil River at the Henry Fonda Theater. Of course, if you can't pull the multiple man (played by Eric “McSteamy” Dane in some boring X-Men flick) bizzness, check out Roky Erickson at FYF's Ice Cream party at the Center for the Arts in Eagle Rock.
Yes, that's Roky Erickson playing an after school (read 3:30pm) set for some pipsqueaks, rugrats, and maybe a munchkin or two. It's free if a kiddo accompanies you (little people do NOT count), in the first of a series of concerts that FYF says that they “will be doing in Los Angeles for children to experience live music.” Childrens' book author Dallas Clayton will also read from his book, “An Awesome Book.”
