SUNNYVALE, CA (September 1, 2021)Brianna Jones, 17, of San Jose, lost her life after a fatal vehicle collision on Highway 101 last weekend.

The crash happened around 3:10 a.m. Sunday, August 27, on southbound U.S. Highway 101.

According to the CHP, Jones was driving a 1998 Honda Civic when it collided with the middle strip, resulting in a flat rear tire.

A 2020 Honda Civic and a 2018 Subaru WRX then collided with the Honda as it drifted into the number two lane.

Despite their best attempts, first responders pronounced Jones dead on the site.

In addition, after the incident, officials closed the lanes on southbound Highway 101, but reopened just after 6 a.m.

Although the cause of the accident is still being investigated, it seems unlikely that drugs or alcohol played a role.
